Hot Dog

It's gonna be a HOT one... 102 with a heat index of 110. We will most certainly be in the water this weekend. Our sweet dog, on the other hand, will not be in the water with us.

Sweet Eufaby {u-fob-ee} tore her ACL a week or so ago and just arrived home this morning from the animal hospital in this get-up. She went under the knife yesterday for repair and is at home now, in her little corner, resting well. The girls were so sweet to make her "get well" signs that the very kind vet techs at the animal hospital promised to place on her kennel, facing inwards {of course}, so she could see them.

In the past I've shared different accounts of how my brainwaves didn't connect and to redeem my rapport I'd like to share an account of how my brainwaves DID connect.

Justin took her in earlier this week to see her regular vet {Dr. Clark @ Care} to be seen about her leg that she wasn't using. Dr. Clark suspected a torn ACL and recommended that we take her to a new vet in town; a very well-renown surgeon who most recently was a professor at Virgina Tech. I questioned Justin about this and found it odd that they would recommend we take her elsewhere but alas we followed his suggestion and made the decision to have her seen and operated on by the new doctor.

I received a call a few hours later from Care with all the details of her surgery and when and where to take her. He said, "Dr. Martin will take good care of her."

B R A I N W A V E S C O N N E C T E D !

I went on to ask, "I know this is a long shot, there are probably a lot of "Martin's" but is there any chance his son & daughter-in-law are vets too? And living in Minnesota?" He answered," Yes, that's him!"

Dr. Martin's son & daughter-in-law {Brian & Lisa} were in our small group in Tallahassee over 3 years ago. We haven't been great about keeping in touch but I was so excited to hop on Facebook and tell Lisa the whole story. Dr. Martin {and his wife} are owners of the new Southern Regional Veterinary Specialist {SRVS-- on Westgate for the locals} and are the most kind and down-to-earth people {and extremely qualified for our small, Southern town}! They also have an "Emergency Clinic" in the back for any after-hour emergencies.

We're certain that Eufaby will make a quick recovery and be back to her old self in no time! She is Justin's best little companion and will have to temporarily trade her "farm living" lifestyle for "dining room" living. So far, with this heat, I've yet to hear a complaint from her!

I hope she recovers quickly! It is hard to see our sweet little furry companions suffer and not be able to tell them that they will be okay. I hope she enjoys the cool air!

That hurts my heart. I have such compassion for animals. We just recently used Dr. Martin for one of our dogs and yes, he is wonderful. I'm pretty sure your dog is liking that AC a lot better than that awful heat. Spoil him rotten while he's "sick."

I'm sure Eufaby appreciated her cards. How cute. I really had no clue dogs could tear their ACL...just never thought about it I guess.

Oh what a neat story. Isn't it wonderful how we all reconnect in the oddest ways! I hope she is up and running soon. I know she is HAPPY to be inside with the ac going, but would love to pool it with the kids! I hope she recovers very soon. The PIC's of her are so darn cute!

I am a huge dog lover. We lost our chocolate lab May 9 and I am still grieving for him. Hope to get another dog in late summer. Thought we would visit granddaughters while we can. I love your blog. I am going to try your chicken recipe tonight. It sounds so good.
Give Eufaby a hug and pat for me.
It is how neat how God keeps us in touch even when we find we don't have time.
Keep on writing--I know you have many fans.

You are a very special person!!! Anyone that has compassion such as this for our wonderful creatures has earned their place in heaven! I once read a quote, (and I have never forgotten it) "Dogs/Cats are our link to paradise) How true is this!

Oh, sweet dog! I hope she recovers quickly! And your daughters ... I LOVE that they made cards for her. So sweet!

But more importantly ... how did you come up with that name for her? We will be getting a dog later this year. My kiddos CAN'T wait (and neither can we!).

How sweet that your girls made some cards for Eufaby. :) She looks like a good patient though!!! At least she doesn't have to wear one of those awful cone collars! ;)

Sweet baby! I hope she recovers quickly. We just went through a very similar situation with one of our beloved dogs. It's so sad to watch them go through surgery and recovery, you can't explain to them what is going on. Best of luck!!

I hope she feels better soon! And what a small world! So sad to see her in that cast, but I would be happy to be propped up in the heat these days!

Poor Eufaby - I hope she recovers quickly, although maybe she's happy for some forced quiet time in all that heat.

Speaking of heat, if you'd like to send some over to Ireland we sure would appreciate it - it's in the 60s here and it's hard to get in the summer mood when it feels like fall!

Enjoy the pool!

FabDog,
Mommasissy LOVES you! I still think they should have put you in a pink cast, but I won't hold it against them.

Oh poor girl! Hank feels so bad for her!! She's probably really enjoying her time indoors:) She'll be good as new in no time! See you all soon! XO Cousin

Oh man. My Bonnie girl has had both of her rear ACL's replaced. One in December, one last week. Tell Eufaby to take it easy on her other knee once this one is healed. I'm sure that the vet already told you this little bit of info - but large breed female dogs have a 75% chance of rupturing their other ACL within a year. Yuck. Hope she feels better soon!
