Somebody help me! {Another dear child!}

This time it's her sister. She's cut her long beautiful hair with a pair of "cloud scissors". Justin's been gone this morning and I honestly think I might lose my mind. Anyone have any suggestions? {These scissors were placed on a high shelf in a closet and apparently she used a chair to reach them!}

When I uploaded these pictures of Morgan's new hairstyle... there were some pictures of Paige from yesterday with her "Outlast Lipstick" on...

Well, at least she cut it into some long, fashionable sweepy "cloud" bangs:) Not funny, I know. I'm sure you were devastated. I'm sure you were also wondering why Paige couldn't have picked a clear or very light pinky nude color to paint her face with. Hang in there!!

I just happened upon your blog. Wow you are amazingly talented with the sewing.
I don't know which is worse...cutting hair with the scissors (my daughter did that twice) or cutting up the curtains with found scissors (I'll thank my son for that gift).
Great Blog!

Hey Darby!
I am laughing so hard and I know it is not at all funny! You'll look back and laugh one day too. Hang in there and tell Justin to get home soon.
Love, Kristee

YIKES!! I was just thinking the same thinking....they kind of look like chic swoopy bangs. People pay big bucks for that.

Sam cut holes in my favorite set of sheets once. I could have killed him.

Side sweeping bangs or what a cute bob? She would look precious for the summer and her hair will grow so quickly! As for Paige and the outlast lipstick.... gotta love her and her creative spirit.

Oh Darby!! Bless your heart. I wish I was 4 hours closer to Dothan and I'd come rescue either you or your children for the day! I'm voting for the side swept bangs with a bob, too. A little change is good for the soul sometimes! :) I've threatened Towns with her life over cutting her hair...she knows that you have to have a "license" to cut hair and only Mommy and the nice lady at Baron's Day Spa have those!! We'll see how long that works. I'm pretty sure I'll have my own version of the hair cutting pictures soon enough. Hang in there, D!

You poor dear! Like you don't have enough on your plate! I would just put barrets or bows up in it till it grows longer. OR, it's summer time, why not keep throwing it up in a pony!

Let's hope the new addition to your family stays in the belly for a little while longer! ;)

hugs and kisses to you....

When I was 4, my entire family was prepping to leave for Jamaica. I went into the corner of my sister's bedroom and took a pair of scissors to one of my pigtails. I lopped one off at its base. For the entire trip (and several months afterwards) I had to wear my hair in a side ponytail since one half of my hair was only about 2" long.

At least she gave herself some sort of bangs and didn't take it much further. She has self control. I didn't!

It's time for a cute chin-length bob I think!!! would be adorable...

Oh, Darby. I know you're mad and upset. Morgan's beautiful hair will have to be cut...well, it's made for a great blog insert. Keep us posted on the new 'do.'
I'm sorry, but it will grow back.
I think either I or my twin did the same thing growing up. Scissors are like that forbidden, but really neat tool that amazes kids. Parents tell us to not go near them..."they're dangerous"...but it's like the pretty red hot stove...you wanna touch it!!!!
Well, don't let this get your blood pressure up...well, anymore than it already has.
Love you, girl.

I can offer no sane advice, as I am overwhelmed with my four this summer. It's only 2 weeks into the summer and I'm wondering if I'm going to make it.

If you love the long hair, here are options:
1) pull it to the side with one of your honkin' bows. But first hold it with one of those clear rubber bands that stay in the hair forever. This will keep her front swoop in place.
2) do a cute top portion only pony with a bow at the top
3) keep her hair in headbands

If you are feeling like you may want to go shorter:
1)chop that hair off and do the Caroline Kennedy bob from 1963. It's a classic do. Especially with a wide headband.

Just stay away from "bangs". Gag.

Hi,
I'm so glad you and your awesome sister don't seem to mind strangers stalking your blogs! I found Erika's through a mutual friend here in Starkville, MS and then of course continued right on to yours. Both of you amaze me in different ways! I have so much admiration for you...my "babies" are almost 24 & 27 now and reading your blog brings back so many good memories of them growing up! You are so talented and have given me all sorts of new sewing ideas! Praying for you as you progress through these next few weeks!

Darby,
All I can say is I feel your pain.
You are right, its something about that "middle child" that just keeps us moving...unfortunately...all the time!
Think about this...this time next year...you will be getting ready to celebrate your son's first birthday! whew, how about that for perspective!?! Sometimes, life goes too fast, and other times, not fast enough.
Hang in there!! (I'm not even going to say "get some rest"!! What a joke!)
PS I agree with Seleta...NO bangs...whatever you do!

I did the same thing to my long blonde hair when I was Morgan's age. Sorry it's been a hectic few days. Call me if I can do anything for you!

I vote for a bob! A la Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham... besides Morgan is cuter than either of them and can totally pull it off! Wish I was there to help. You might have a future hair stylist and make-up artist in your family!

I think she could totally pull off a bob too... even though her long hair is beautiful! It'll grow back though (at least all she cut was her hair!). I wish my 19 mo. old daughter's hair was as long as the peice she cut - watch her cut it off too as soon as it starts getting long... she's not quite as sneaky and good at getting into things as your girls are, but she has time to catch up I guess! This probably didn't help your blood pressure too much - hope you're able to relax before the next one comes :) maybe the boy will be your calm child!

Oh my....well on the loss of sanity, I prefer mine to be gone. That way I move through the day oblivious to the chaos around me. Heehee. :)
My two cents:
1. Short would be really cute, so go with it.
2. Be glad that her fine motor skills are developing well. She looked like she had good control over those cloud makers. :)
Hang in there. Deep breaths...

I love your blog. I read it through Erika's site. You are so talented.
The 'outlast lipstick' incident reminds me of one with my older sister. We used my mother's lipstick as face paint once as children. She too captured photos of us. We were proud.
