Day31:: All Done!

Well, I think I missed one day... in my own defense I did make it up the next. I enjoyed spending time with y'all this month and I'll try not to be a stranger because honestly my little "challenge" wasn't so "challenging" after all {but it would have been had I gone "wordless"}. You crazy web friends are such an encouargement to me and I thank you for all your kind comments and emails!

The sun is up again this morning. I'm so thankful for it. Justin is working all day today and left the house before 5 am. Those of you who are mothers know what a challenge that is... we live for the weekends. Ok, so I know we don't "live" for them... but we certainly look VERY forward to them. I'm still in my jammies but I may very well have to pull out my Happy Shirt today... I wonder how it will look with a turtleneck under it? :)

See this little man... I have made an observation about him. He might be kin to this little man...

breastfeeding

If we were Asian I might even mistake that woman and her baby for myself and John Martin. I breastfed both the girls for 13 months and I fully intend to do the same with JM but let me tell you about my observations and you'll see why he's now sleeping in a different part of the house.

He can be completely content in the arms of his daddy, grandmother, or anyone {besides me} for that matter and if I {his mother and life support} come with in view he begins to fall apart. I've been observing this behavior for several weeks now. Last night my husband took me out to dinner, John Martin was kept by his grandparents and completely content until I walked into the room. He was not hungry... he had just finished a 7-oz bottle of breastmilk! I'm sure I'm not the only person on this planet who has recognized this behavior, it is probably documented in some medical journal under the chapter "Psychiatric Observations of Breastfed Babies". Anyway, the crying has continued and the quest to bring it to a screeching hault has also continued. He has been relocated to a room not within an "earshot" of his mother, who physically sweats in bed as she listens to him cry. For 2 nights now we haven't heard a peep, that's not to say he hasn't made a peep, we just haven't heard it! And I'm starting to actually sleep for more than 3 hours at a time, which I haven't done in 7 months. Thank you, Lord! It was starting to take a toll on my body... and my attitude!

Did y'all know I have a 4-year old named Morgan?

31sweetmorgan

She doesn't like to sit still for pictures so I feel like she gets left off the blog a lot. Yesterday she posed for me. This is what she chose to wear. I was ok with it because she was so proud of herself. She said, "Mommy, you knew I'd choose this sweater because you know I love colors and it's so colorful!" Life's too short to dampen their sweet spirits. I did make her put on socks and shoes before going outside.

*************

My heart has been burdened for the Harrison family this past week. Their daughter Hannah Grace's health is deteriorating. Jarrod {her dad} is the office manager at our church. She had a brain tumor and it was surgically removed, followed by intense chemo, followed by a stemcell transplant last Sunday. Since then, she has been on a ventilator and as of last night the doctors are not sure if her bowels have stopped working or if they are dying. It is a very critical situation and her life is on the line. If her bowels are dying there is nothing medically they can do.

Please pray that her bowels will miraculously heal and begin functioning.
Please pray for Jarrod and Marci {and the rest of her family}.

She just turned 3 this month. What a sweet angel.

I love your blog :) My daughter will be 4 on monday. I feel like I need to take more "creative" pictures of her because it's rare that I get a nice posed one of her face.

Darby- I can't tell you how much I want to copy your section on JM and paste it on my blog and insert the name "Lilly." Granted Lilly is 6 months younger than JM, but she does the exact same thing. I just don't know what to do...Good luck to you girl!

That's a precious pic of Morgie! I'm glad you've gotten a little more rest. That's interesting about JM...little stinker. Have a great weekend! Love you!

I found that same behavior to me true in my little boys (the girls never seemed to "need" me quite as much). My husband left before 5 this morning too - makes for a very long day - especially when there's ice on the ground.

Darby,
I love your posts!

I am SOOO SAD to read about sweet Hannah Grace. My husband and I will put her on our prayer list and you can be sure she will be prayed for daily!!! Please keep us posted! {I love that name; it's actually on the list for this next baby if it's a girl}!
Also, I read about your other friend, Patrick. We have been praying for him as well. Hope he is doing better.
Thank you for your prayers for us!

Darby, are you having trouble with JM sleepirg through the night? I'm sorry I haven't really started following your blog and the story behind all this. I bf Ella for 9 months. I want to recommend a book for you if you are having trouble with the sleeping thing. It's called The Sleep Easy Solution. I think that's it. As I type this it doesn't sound right though. Anyway, this book is GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! Ella was slee ping through the night within two days. She still sleeps 12 hrs. a night. This was a baby whom we had to drive around just to get her to sleep, we even co-slept. I thought I was going to have to climb in her crib with her. ha! Seriously, check it out. There is a website too! www.sleepyplanet.com

oh bless that baby girl. we will certainly get some more prayers going for her.

and AC does the same thing to me. and that is why as soon as she showed me she COULD sleep through the night, she went straight to her room...across the house! people always talk about her "tracking" me. fine with me. i know she loves me and needs me and sometimes only me!

and yay for a morgan appearance. we love that sweet girl too!!

I will be on my knees for little Hannah. My heart hurts for any child and their parents who endure what this family is enduring. We serve an awesome God and Thankfully He has a plan far greater than our own. He lights our path just enough so that we can take our next step.
My husband and I were told by doctors that I would never be able to have children. By his grace and mercy we have been completely healed and just gave birth to our 4th child this past September. Our God is a Great God.
Hannah...you are loved by your Savior. Hold tight to your Saviors hand on lifes walk on the waters of faith!

it breaks my heart to see Hannah Grace and read that her health is taking a turn for the worst. She is in our prayers night and day and we wish her and her family the strength and courage to carry on and get well soon. i am so sad for this little girl, and i pray that she makes a miraculous recovery and can live a happy and worry free life that all three year olds deserve.

Wow, it seems like every time I turn around these days there is a sick baby! What is going on? I pray for each and every one of them, and their parents...and also prayers of thanksgiving that we have not had to endure this kind of pain in our lives and with our girls. May the Lord on High heal these babies and allow long, happy lives with their families. He is the best Physician of all! I pray that His work is done here on Earth, through the hands of the doctors, nurses, and all care-givers.
Amen,
Kelli <><<

I am deeply saddened for the Whitt Family. I found their blog from your prayer roll list and their two year old daughter passed away yesterday. Tuesday passed away on a Friday. The other child you show a picture of is lovely too. If only the Lord would heal them all on this Earth. Your Morgan is adorable. Your JM is fantastic too. My baby does the same thing. She only wants me and only cries when she sees or hears mama. I am such a sucker for her and am constantly nursing (and that means all day and all NIGHT too). I know what you mean. It wears you down. We have to let them work it out. I hope you have a lovely week. It looks like you have some good weather. :)

How in the WORLD did you find that picture - that was stinking HILARIOUS!!! And, just so you know, I quit BF Henderson about a month ago (well, he just began gettng too distracted while nursing and the whole "have to go to work thing" wasn't great for keeping up a milk supply) but anyhow, he still goes crazy when he hears my voice or I walk into a room - comletely content with everybody else until mommy walks up! I will be praying for Hannah Grace - that breaks my heart, but God is good!

My heart just broke. I promise to pray for this sweet little soul.

Morgan is precious. You're such a great mom. Someday please hold a seminar on Godly mothering and I'll pay to attend.

Hi there,
Just ran acoss your blog today! I have your sis's bookmarked! Anyway.. just want to say I love seeing your home renovations..they are just great! We are similar spirits in that way... if maybe different style tastes but very similar do-it-yourself-er redecorators!

We live in an 1890's house and love it so much. I get so much out of caring for, making beautiful this home that could easily be forgotton and left by the wayside!

I also relate in the fact that we have 3 children, my baby is 7 months as well, and we totally breastfeed for a year at least too! I LOVE that pic!

Anyway...on my blog, I have pics on my sidebar of our house that we are continusouly working on(and nothing is fully finished, so keep that in mind!) if you are in the mood to take a peek you are welcome!

And thanks for the lovely read!

Your kids are so adorable! I remember that first year with my son, though, when I swear I went 6 or 7 months without more than 2 hours of sleep at a time. How do we do that?!

I'll keep that sweet little girl in my prayers. I think it's so great that you post prayer requests on your blog.

~AnNicole

P.S. Thanks again for letting me use that great photo...and for stopping by my blog.
