Look for the Signs

girlssign

I promise if you blink you might miss our yard sale signs. They're in our side yard, attached to popsicle sticks, written in highlighter, and they're about 2" x 4". Good thing I have back up's. The girls were very excited about their signs and yes, they are right where they placed them Tuesday.

I had 3 drivers hit the brakes, back up, pull in the driveway and ask to shop today... even though they were all over the age of 75 I turned them away. The ad will run tomorrow so I imagine there will be more of the same. I'm trying to stick to my guns; maybe I need a "No early birds, PLEASE!" poster on the garage doors. Erika just called and asked if I saved half the garage for her... not quite, looks like I'll be doing some rearranging tomorrow.

Sweet Mom was worried about the cobwebs. And sweet Morgan was worried about all her toys she saw for sale. Oh dear! I've already promised a few new toys if she lets me sell all her old ones. She wasn't thrilled but didn't fight it too hard. However, she did get into a fight with a hanger earlier this week {just as the black-eye cleared up} and it got her lip. Someone's going to turn me in I'm sure. :)

Well kids, this is one tired Momma. I've spent more hours in the garage this week than I ever care to for the rest of my life... well, at least until next year. Can't wait to meet some of y'all! Thanks for always encouraging me and being interested in our lives... even little things like garage sales! Y'all are the best!

We always put up a sign, "Early Birds Pay Double!" - that tends to keep them away!

Love Tiffany's sign idea... too funny! The girls are so sweet with their sign... melts my heart. And YOU DID NOT SAVE ME ENOUGH ROOM! Am I going to have to set up in the front yard? I see that house lamp that momma built and painted for our room when we were babies... are you really getting rid of it!?

Im getting all twitchy looking at all of that stuff for sale! I was in the area today and thought about doing a drive by to know where to go but hungry tired 4 year old kept me away.

my friend susannah is coming!! i told her to take pictures (of all you girls from the blogs, not of your stuff. that might be crazy!) good luck friend. that camera is as good as YOURS!! and don't worry about anyone turning you in. i mean, the CPS/DHR is usually too busy at my house!!

t looks like insanity! ill be logging on all weekend to see the progress!:-)

Wow! You gals have done a LOT of work! I think Erika should put her furniture in the driveway & yard to draw more people in. That's what usually catches my eye when I'm doing a drive-by of a garage/yard sale. Gotta be able to see the cool stuff to reel them in!

I think you'll be very profitable and the camera will be yours in no time!

My neighborhood has a garage sale every June. I've already started purging and organizing to get ready. I have waaay to much stuff in this house (and garage) and this annual clean out is always a big help.

Can't wait to see pictures from the sale!

Good luck tomorrow! Hope you make big bucks;) I wondered what Connie was doing in the background...too funny! Nothing keeps shoppers away like a couple of cobwebs!

I love the girls' sign! That's precious. And your garage is SO organized!!! I have never seen a garage sale that nice- with no cobwebs!!
I'll lure DHR away this weekend for you. I have the kids to myself a while. They usually come-a-knockin' when they hear about that. :)
Have a wonderful sale! I might send my mom over!

That looks like an awesome yard sale. Even with all my own stuff that I need to get rid of, I want to shop at yours!! Hey Congratulations on being an Auntie! That is going to be so fun for you and Erika!

You will have people show up with flashlights to look around hours before you are set to start. I am convinced I had one man take a few extra things without my knowledge b/c it was dark! I like Tiffany's idea about early birds pay double! Be ready for EXTREME Early birds! I am glad the weather is set to be perfect!

I enjoy your blog so much. I believe a new camera will definitely be possible with all the great items you have to sell. Wish I could come. Maybe I will hit some sales here in B'ham in honor of the occasion. I hope next week you and your mom have something relaxing planned. ha ha!

Wow! Looks like your garage sale is going to go WAY better than mine! I think I priced things too high and didn't sell much but was able to donate a bunch to the Kidney Foundation so that wasn't so bad! I just wanted to let you know that I often take little ideas and thoughts from your blog every time I read it...which is so funny to me since you are a mother of 3 and I am single with no kids...well, except for my beautiful yellow lab! I immediately stole your idea for the Christmas labels (I even referenced your blog on mine), made my own stationery too based off of that idea...and the southwestern chicken soup you posted the other day was delicious!!! I think next time I'll use black beans...oh and I added corn too! Yum! Well...this is a LONG comment, but I just wanted to say hi...and tell you how much I LOVE your blog! Good work, Darby! :)

Just wanted you to know I made my sister with no kids drive over this morning bright and early to check out the loot. I couldn't make it from North Carolina but my daughter will be the lucky girl sporting a few of your precious dresses. My sister also found a great comforter too so her trip was successful. Thanks for keeping us in the loop and it sounds like you all were very successful.
