Stop the Insanity

There have been a few insane things going on around here...

the playroom: Friday I mentioned I was going to the playroom to work on the yard sale... I didn't come out for two days. Seriously. I haven't purged toys in 4 years and well, I learned a hard lesson... it's a ton of work if you let the toys, babies, barbies, stuffed animals and puzzles build up. I got rid of a TON of stuff... mostly stuffed animals. Shhh... don't tell my kids they'll never notice. I will share after pictures later... but here are some befores... I'm sure I'll hear some gasps from across the country. And by the way, I am not responsible for buying these toys... the guilty shall remain anonymous.

And fortunately it's looking much more under control now! Here's a peek of the after...

blocks

late night: {this is a good insane thing} I had a girls night out last night! I haven't done this in months and it is so much fun to do so. We had a delightful dinner and then headed to the book store for coffee, books, and chat. I loved every minute of if, so much so that we closed down Barnes & Noble... yes, I closed down a book store at 11pm. If you know me, you will be shocked. Rarely am I up past 9 pm and if I am it's usually against my will. This was the opposite, it was the most delightful late night I've had in a long time!

croup: The girls both have croup. My children get croup in the winter like we get mosquito bites in the summer. They'll be fine we just have to work through interrupted sleep and keeping fevers at bay.

ceiling: While preparing for the yard sale my husband was ransacking the attic above the garage... and fell through the ceiling. Thankfully not all the way through. But enough to do major damage.

He's fine and I can see evidence that apparently he's not the first to step off the flooring and fall through... see the other patch job? Ours will be a little more involved. Good thing we have nothing better to do than work on the ceiling in the garage! :)

snow: Did you see any snow this weekend? I've never seen snow this far south... until now... this morning this is what our backyard looked like. A windy little blizzard! And to think that the girls were in bathing suits and water buckets on Wednesday afternoon.

That's Mom's dog, Chasey. She thought she was coming south to escape snow and blizzard like conditions. She apparently brought this snow with her.

Stay tuned a recipe to follow...

Wow! We got a few flurries, but not as many as you did, to our disappointment! Stay warm!

Will you please take a post a picture of the insane crowds at your garage sale? I can only image the people planning their weekend and hate that I can't join them because I love a good garage sale. Good thing we don't need stuffed animals or dolls b/c i'd really feel like i was missing out!

Oh how I remember playroom days, I can sympathize. The worst was when I did a mom's support group at our church. The church as very small then and the nursery was at my house, while the mom's met at another home. It took me forever to just get all of the puzzle pieces sorted.

We had lots of snow here in Birmingham. I will post my pics a little later.

I am so glad your mother arrived safely. I know you need her with the croup, the garage sale and the snow. Can't wait for the recipe.

OMGoodness! I have to admit, I cracked up when I saw that fall-through-the-attic pic! I showed my husband, and he grinned, too - knowing how easily that could be us! Glad your hubby is OK, though.
The Toys - well...EEK!

SO GLAD Mom is there! I know y'all are busy having fun! I'm also glad Justin didn't fall completely through! :) Never a dull moment at the "S" home! I wish we could have played today too-although we might have wanted to go somewhere with a little more accumulation...but I was thankful for what we got! Have I mentioned how much I enjoyed seeing you the other day??!?!

Have to say I love the random naked Ken doll. His hair deserves an award.

And we have so been there on toys. Most recently we carted 10 bags of stuffed animals out of here. I think they multiply at night while we sleep.

The snow was so much fun! Wish it lasted at least a whole day though:)

AWE! The girls! So, croup is where they cough a lot, right? Sad. :(

Way to go, Justin!! ;) I would've done the same (or worse)! ;)

Gosh, your garage sale is going to FILL that garage!

yeah, I agree with Erika...no pics of Mom???

Too funny, bathing suits to snow in a matter of days.

FWIW, I have fell through two attics. :) Not all the way, but it was an adventure!

Darby, please tell your husband that I too fell through the ceiling last year from the attic into the Master Bathroom... my husband was out of town and john Hunter was napping. Thankfully I took my cell phone with me and called my from the ceiling since I was stuck. It does however make a good option for "2 truths and a lie"

What time will your garage sale start this weekend????

Oh! You weren't kidding! That's a LOT of toys!!! : ) Hope your yard sale goes well!

All those dolls! It's like my house with the 20+ naked barbies ( I've lost count). I keep telling the kids we need to give away half their stuff - we only need to find time to sort it all out.

I'm glad I found your blog - have a great weekend!
