Do You Dream?

Raiger

I've always been a big "dreamer". I love to entertain my mind with things I'd like to do. I think this trait comes from my dad. He can come up with some crazy ideas... and usually if he entertains himself long enough with those ideas he'll act on them. Most of my dreams are fairly unattainable. That's why they are usually dreams and not reality. One day soon I hope to be gutsy enough to bring my dreams to fruition. I've subtly hinted at my dreams on here before... raising chickens, living on a farm, and now... I've moved on to another dream. Are you ready?

Remember Justin has that new truck that can pull a beast like this. I want to take my family on a vacation across the US in a pull behind RV. I can hear you laughing. I told Erika a couple weeks ago... she died laughing. She said, "You must have forgotten about Hornet. How are you going to sleep in an RV with your kids and Hornet?" I'm not really sure but I could probably figure it out.

We would start here in Alabama and travel west to and through Texas. Then we would continue west to Arizona and then north to Utah and then east to Colorado then further east through Nebraska and then to Missouri and onto Illinios so we could stop at the farm and say "hey" to my parents. Then we would turn right and head south through Kentucky, Tennessee and back to Alabama. Doesn't that sound like fun? I told Justin I bet some of y'all would let us park it in your driveway for a night or two, right?

What do you daydream about? Really... I'd like to know. Did you know that less than 1 percent of y'all ever comment? To be exact in the last 2 days only .03% of y'all have commented and usually it's the same people... which I'm always grateful for. So take a second and tell me something that you'd like to do... it can be totally absurd.

Ok, back to reality.

I just read this great post! No one ever mentions Utah on their post! (Unless they are from Utah)..We would love to have you stay in our driveway or wherever and have you guys over for a BBQ or to show you all the sights. Park City is really a great place to visit. We live right at the base of the mountains so Park City is only 15 minutes away. Utah really is beautiful. The National Parks in the southern part of the state are phenomenal. I love Arches especially. I think you would have a trip of a lifetime. As for my dreams, I hope to lose some weight and tour Europe every three years or so. I don't think anywhere in America is like Europe. They are both beautiful, in different ways. I have always wanted to tour Martha's Vineyard and Boston too. I really liked it when I visited Georgia and Alabama but it was SO humid! Is there a time of year where it is less humid than others? Also, what places would you recommend visiting in Alabama? I mainly only saw stuff in Georgia. :) Lisa and the crew from Utah

Wow Darby, you've received over 200 comments! I found you by way of Erika's blog. You two are adorable! I've really enjoyed reading your blog and well, this is my first time to comment. I've looked through most of your renovation pics and love what you have done to your gorgeous house. You are VERY clever (love all your finds). I am a big dreamer!! I have a list which I posted on my blog and I came up with some ridiculous number of things. So I will post just a few (some more far-fetched than others, but dreams nonetheless)...Have a beach house in South Africa (where my husband is from). Write a book.
Create a line of organic bedding.
Pack up the family and live in Tuscany for a year. Would love to run a business with my husband too!
Have a great rest of your weekend! I will be posting again soon! :)

Darby- I say go for it! Growing up outside of LA my family always had an RV. My folks would load up my two sisters and I and we'd camp out at the beach, even on Thanksgiving one year! Those are some of my favorite childhood memories, playing Go Fish around the little table while munching on candy cigarettes. (Can you believe they actually used to make those?) When we later moved to GA and over Christmas break we'd drive down the coast all the way to Key West and back. My parents survived and we thrived, so go for it!

Last week at a Sunday School social a few of us were sitting around chatting and someone said, "I came across a new blog...you should read it...it's 'Fly Through...'" She was quickly interrupted with simultaneous replies, "We know...we already read it!" We enjoy your blog.

I dream about a lot. I think the most simple answer to sum it all up is 'I dream of a life similar to Pioneer Woman except in Southeast Alabama.' (wife, mother, teacher, land, house, photographer, cook, etc.)

Hi Darby,

I have been reading your blog for a while now and I find you and your family very inspiring. With that being said my dream is to live on a lake! I want to wake up have a cup of coffee and sit on my deck and enjoy the view. Add in a few nonexistent kids, my Brad and my pug....

Hey Darby. Yes, I'm a lurker (thanks for the sling info) and I'm so glad you mentioned that you only post the good stuff and that your house is dirty sometimes...I was beginning to dislike you a teensy bit. ;)
Right now I am living part of your dream...we have a farm in east louisville, a bunch of chickens, and all the dirt and fun that comes with having the line between indoors/outdoors blurred. So thanks to you for reminding me (on a particularly MUGGY day in an old house with no central air) that the things I take for granted today are the things I dreamed about yesterday.
