Another Update

First, I am so very sorry for the lack of communication over the last few hours. I keep thinking that I will have something big to report and as of right now not much has changed.

Chance is resting comfortably {with pain meds} in ICU. They have done additional CT scans of his brain and neck and the bleed they saw on the first CT scan has not changed. {Praise!} They are still waiting to have a consultation with the Neurologist. They were told when they left hospital #1 that there would be a bed in ICU and a Neurologist waiting for them at hospital #2. Those durn hospitals. They spent 2+ hours in the ER and still at 7 pm haven't heard from a Neurologist. I'm assuming since they haven't rushed him into the OR that no change in the bleed size in the brain is a good thing.

DaddyBoy has landed safely and is probably {by now} with Erika in the ICU waiting room. She is not allowed to be in the room with Chance for long periods of time and I know that she's not allowed in there between 6 and 8pm... but was told if the Neurologist comes in during those hours that they will call her back to hear the report.

Please continue to pray for healing. Erika and DaddyBoy plan to return home tonight to sleep. They aren't allowed to camp out in the room with him and the ICU waiting room isn't a good place for a pregnant woman to sleep.

Thanks for all your comments, love, and support but most of all for your prayers.

Psalm 25:10- All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful.

Ok, I just commented on your previous post and realized this was the most current. Anyway, I am so glad you put this up b/c we had no idea. I know Jeremy will want to call Bayn as soon as I tell him this. Please keep us updated too!

Thanks for the update. When we were in the ER at Children's waiting on the neurosurgeon it took him 3 hours - but he WAS coming off a trauma surgery, so I guess he had a good excuse. It's serious, since he's in ICU, but Hopefully it's a good sign that it's not TOO TOO serious for them not to rush. Will keep praying!

Thanks for the update Darby. I keep checking your blog, praying for good news. Glad Daddyboy is with Erika and will help her take care of herself.

Hugs from Louisville.

Ok, Jeremy just talked to Bayn and he said that at his age and b/c of other factors, that he should be able to absorb this "blood pocket" (I think that's what Bayn called it. And apparently there is a neurologist on staff 24 hrs. at the hospital and they are keeping him for observation right now. You may already know this Darby, but I thought I would pass it to everyone else. And make sure I have my facts straight!

Oh Darby! I'm so behind on my blog reading because I never have enough time at the computer to do extra curricular activities on it. Even though I never do it, something made me take time to sit down just now and yours is the first blog I went to. I'm reading about Chance in tears!! Please keep us posted and let me know if there is anything at all I can do. Probably not much I can help with from north AL other than lifting them up in prayer, so that's what I'll do without ceasing!!

Thank you for the update, even if there's not much new to tell. Glad DaddyBoy is with Erika. And think about how God's ways are so much higher than our ways....that bad weather last weekend kept your mom here for a reason! Will keep praying for everyone!

Still sending prayers to both Chance and Erika. I'm especially praying that her pregnancy will be protected during this stressful time, and that Chance will have a quick and full recovery.

I know you don't know me, but I've followed Erika's blog for a while and recently started following yours and I truly admire both of you. My heart goes out to your family.

For crying out loud, how long does it takes to get a neurologist to see a patient? Is it a very small, local hospital?
I am still sending all my prayers to Erika, Chance and your entire family.
Darby, thank you so much for thinking of us at this time, know we are all waiting for good news from you and your updates help so much. xoxo MB

tell erika to find a nice nurse and ask her if there is a conference room, or private room near the waiting room. when we were there with my sister in the icu, my mom found a small room with a few couches and she camped out there.

Still praying in N.C.! Just checking in for updates. I am so glad Daddyboy is with Erika and I do hope she gets some good news and can rest tonight. It's also good that your mom is with you. My husband is in the medical profession, he is NOT a neurologist but says if the bleed does not get worse, he can probably absorb it and will be fine. We are praying for that. Chance is where he needs to be...Erika should take comfort in that and get some rest herself. I will check for updates in the morning. Love to you all.

Praying that Chance will heal completely and get to raise his future daddy's little girl every day of her childhood. May the Lord make his face shine upon your whole family.

I am reminded of a verse in psalms that calmed me during a storm....psalms 9:10(kjv) and they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
Also mark 11:24 therefore I say into you, what thing soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye recieve them, and ye shall have them. (thats in red) so Jesus really meant it!;) we will continue to pray for complete healing! thank you guys for sharing your lives with us... Somedays all I need to know is I'm not alone in this "sahm" world! May god continue to bless all!

Hey, girl,
Russell and I have been praying, and we prayed with our community group last night..."For where 2 or more are gathered..." Jesus is right there with us!

We're praying for Chance's healing and for the dr's to have the discernment and wisdom in treating him/his symptoms and that Erika would specifically not be so worried during this time b/c she's pregnant...no added stress needed!! Also, praying that the Lord would be glorified in these circumstances, even in the unknowns, as frustrating and difficult as that can be. May HE be recognized and be the only source of hope thru this.

Love to each of you, Darby. (Miss you.)

Still praying..."Won't God protect his chosen ones who pray to him day and night? Won't he be concerned for them?" Luke 18:7 I take comfort in this and just pray that Chance will be okay. So glad DaddyBoy is with Brookie. I love you! I'll call in a little while to see if there's a change. Tell E I love her!! XOXO

You do not know me, your sister does not know me, and cute Courtney does not know me - I feel like a stalker - but I love following all of your blogs and think you all are the most talented, kindest young women! I love your faith and the scripture you include in your posts. I am so relieved to read about Chance. My husband came to bed last night while I was still on my laptop and I showed him your blog and told him all about the relationships, the "blind date" to Round Top last year between Courtney and your sister - the whole deal - and he said with a look of wonder" Do you actually know these people?" . Well.......no, not at all.......but the blogging world is full of the most amazing people and I feel like I know them and I would like to know them.......... Anyway, I had to comment and tell you that I am so happy for your sister and brother in law and will pray for continued healing. You were all in my prayers last night. Ann

My dad had a brain injury last July, he was at work passed out and hit his head! He didn't need any surgery, the docs said that the blood will soak up on its own. I didn't understand but I figure the docs know what they are talking about. The first two weeks were rough, he wasn't himself. But he doing better. They put him on seizure meds so that he won't have seizures. Luckily he didn't! But there was one incident where he tried to leave the hospital. But that was due to the head injury and all the meds. The doctors monitored him closely and did a few ct scans and everything was fine. They said as long as the blood does spread then he will be fine and it didn't spread. But I am telling my story to let you and your family know that Chance will be okay! He is in my prayers and he will be fine!
