Delete & Delete Forever

Apparently when I deleted my last post {to edit it later} I didn't think it would delete forever... but it appears as though it's gone. Erika and I must be twins. Hmm... well, in a really big nutshell it said,
"I long to accomplish a great and noble task; but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble." Helen Keller
And now it's Friday night and I want to hang out with my children & husband. I hope that you all have splendid weekends. I have some things up my sleeve for the holiday weekend!

I read your missing post before it was deleted. It was fantastic and I do hope you can recompose it. It was something we ALL need to hear...about every five minutes!! And if you don't re-do it, will you at least put the happy shirt picture back on there?!

I enjoyed the deleted post as well - the devotional was great...something I really needed to hear and it's good to know I'm not the only one! I'm drawing up my owl (and other appliques) and am planning on finishing them up this weekend since my husband's gone as well (not sure if you read my comments on the deleted post). Can't wait to see what you do!

I read the deleted post and LOVED every single word...so true and so good to hear.

Glad you had fun with your sweet kids at the park. It's the simple things that I do with my family that give me the most pleasure. And as mundane as the daily household routine can be, I've come to realize that there'll be plenty of time to have an organized house, laundry put away, crumbless floors, etc etc. - I need to enjoy my kids here and now. Their childhoods will be gone in the blink of an eye (Kate going to kgarten this year -- another one out the door to school! -- really emphasized for me how fast it all flies by), and I don't want to look back and regret a thing! The devotional you posted really spoke to me along those lines -- thank you!

Enjoy your weekend and I'll look forward to hearing what you did!

I read your post before it was deleted and I was going to comment but didn't have time... I too often feel like I wish I had something "big" planned and something out of the norm. But that is not always possible but I do think it makes those "big" trips or moments more special when they come around. I hope you enjoy your relaxing evening and I hope you get to watch the Auburn game tomorrow. We have to watch it on the computer tomorrow since we live in San Fran. CUTE pictures!!

Hey Darby,
I'm not sure if you and I ever talked much (The last 2 years have been a blur!) before we moved from LA but I've been reading your blog since seeing it as a favorite on Wanting What I Have. I have been tempted to comment many times but I must ask you to post that link that was in your deleted post. It was just what I needed to read!! I would love to read it again and savor the scripture that was referenced. I am dealing with making new friends after yet another move and being a stay at home mom who has suddenly gotten the bug to go back to work as a nurse. It is essentially impossible right now. I so need to savor this time and season that God has placed me in. Anyway, great blog and I look forward to saying Hi in person the next time we are at church in LA.

Oh I just read your Deleted post, wish I had copied it for you and e-mailed it back so you could repost it. Such great thoughts to share. I know how you feel about wanting to "do something great." Sometimes it feels like being at home cleaning, cooking (not a stong point for me) and wiping a bottom is just what I do. We forget that really what we do is probably one of the most desired jobs in this world, low wage, but great reward. God uses us in the lives of our children at home and how great that we get to choose what we do with that time. I know sometimes a day passes and I try to think about what we did productive and sometimes there's not much, but maybe we went for a walk and talked about the birds or the leaves, ok the other day ants. But that is Emma Hensley experiencing God's great creation. Or maybe she learned a new shape or word, that I got to teach her. That's pretty major, too bad it does not come with a 10,000 bonus. Ok you would get a 30,000 bonus plus a little more for doing it with three. I love that you took the children to the park, that always makes for a fun day. And I do hope someone shows up on your doorstep to visit this weekend, I sure would love it if I could. Thanks for sharing your thoughts I do hope you will repost it. if not will you send me the link you had in it. And I do think we all need a happy shirt, thats awesome!
